Linde wins 1.3-bln-dollar contract in United Arab Emirates

WIESBADEN, Germany (AFP) — German engineering conglomerate Linde has said it has won a contract worth 1.3 billion dollars (one billion euros) to build one of the world's largest ethane crackers in the United Arab Emirates. Linde said in a statement that is was part of a consortium that had a turnkey contract for an ethane cracker from Borouge, a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Borealis.

The so-called stream cracker will have an ethylene capacity of approximately 1.5 million tonnes and would be "the heart of a petrochemical complex, located in Ruwais in the United Arab Emirates, producing polyethylene and polypropylene for export," the statement said Wednesday.
