India nuclear bill to be on president's desk this week: Frist

WASHINGTON (AFP) — US Senate leader Bill Frist assured India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that a major US-India nuclear energy bill is on track for completion this week. "I spoke today by telephone with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh regarding the pending legislation to authorize civil nuclear cooperation between the United States and India," Frist said.

"I assured Prime Minister Singh that one of my top priorities for the remainder of this Congress is to enact this legislation, and I told him I am confident that we will be able to complete congressional action on it this week," he said.
