'Kidnapped' Dutch children arrive home from Syria

THE HAGUE (AFP) — Two Dutch children who had been living in their country's embassy in Damascus since fleeing their Syrian father in June have arrived back in the Netherlands. Dutch Foreign Minister Ben Bot was at Schiphol airport near Amsterdam to meet Ammar, 13, and Sara, 11, who were then taken to be reunited with their mother, two younger brothers, grandmother and other family members.

The reunion was "exceptionally moving," Bot told reporters. The children were "in very good form" and everything would be done so they "can resume a normal life as soon as possible," he said, according to ANP news agency on Friday.
