Pressley joins Celtic after rejecting Charlton

GLASGOW (AFP) — Scotland defender Steven Pressley opted to join Celtic instead of English Premiership strugglers Charlton. In a statement, champions Celtic - currently 15 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premier League - said: "Celtic Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Scotland international defender Steven Pressley.

"The 33-year-old has signed a deal until May 2008, subject to full registration being completed through the SFA (Scottish Football Association) and SPL. This should be done on January 1." Former Hearts captain Pressley became a free agent after criticising the Edinburgh club's majority shareholder, Vladimir Romanov, and saying there was "dressing-room unrest" as a result of the way the Lithuanian was running affairs at Tynecastle....
