READING, England (AFP) — West Ham United had a nightmare start to the New Year as Reading thrashed them 6-0 at the Madejski Stadium to leave them in deeper trouble in the relegation zone. It was a third straight defeat under new West Ham boss Alan Curbishley, whose reign had started so well four matches previously with a dream 1-0 home win over English Premiership leaders Manchester United.
