Lula starts second term hoping to boost economic growth

BRASILIA (AFP) — Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called for "speed, courage, daring and creativity" as he launched a new four-year term facing the need to pump up economic growth and create more jobs. With his wife Marisa Leticia at his side, the former leftist union leader was sworn in before a joint seating of Brazil's Congress, promising to honor the constitution and have others respect it, and calling for faster change and development.
"Without renouncing the patience and persistence that I advocate, I call today emphatically for speed, courage, daring and creativity to open new paths," Lula said. Lula vowed to work towards boosting the country's economic growth, one of the lowest among emerging powers.
