Watford's Young turns down move

LONDON (AFP) — Watford said that Ashley Young, their star forward, had rejected a move to another Premiership club even though the English top-flight's basement side were happy for him to leave Vicarage Road. The Hornets revealed they had an undisclosed bid for Young over the weekend, believed to be an an offer worth up to 9.65 million pounds from relegation rivals West Ham.

Watford chairman Graham Simpson told the club's official website: "We have stated many times over that we have no need or desire to sell Ashley Young, or any of our players for that matter. "However, having given due consideration to all of the factors, I felt that this offer was right for the club." Aston Villa are still believed to be keen on the 21-year-old, who has scored four goals in 23 appearances...
