Tottenham make offer for Benfica's Rocha

LISBON (AFP) — English Premiership club Tottenham have offered Benfica five million euros (6.5 million US dollars) for defender Ricardo Rocha, Portugal's radio Renascenca have reported, citing unnamed club sources. But Benfica issued a statement on its internet site saying it was not holding transfer talks with Tottenham or any other club regarding the 28-year-old player, as reported by Portugal's radio Renascenca, who is under contract with the Lisbon-based club until 2010.
Tottenham spokesman Peter Secchi refused Thursday to confirm or deny Portuguese media reports that said the English side was interested in Rocha.
