Palermo draw blank at Reggina, Atalanta down Ascoli

ROME (AFP) — Sicilian side Palermo remain on course to claim a Champions league spot next season despite being held to a drab 0-0 draw at relegation-threatened Reggina. A point left Palermo in third place in Serie A on 39 points, 12 clear of Atalanta who rose to fourth after their 3-1 victory at bottom club Ascoli.

A draw did little for Reggina's survival hopes, leaving them third from bottom on 13 points. The Calabrian club would be in midtable were it not for an 11-point penalty for their part in last summer's match-fixing scandal. After a goalless first half at Ascoli, Riccardo Zampagna put Atalanta ahead with a glancing header only for Michele Paolucci to stab home the equaliser.
