Another setback for fallen Angel

ANAHEIM, United States (AFP) — Dallas McPherson, a third baseman who has struggled with injuries for years, will miss up to six months for the Los Angeles Angels after surgery to repair chronic lower back problems. The procedure to remove a disk and repair a fractures vertebra could cause the 26-year-old American to miss the first four months of the upcoming Major League Baseball season but return in time for the last two months.

"It is constant pain and it's affecting daily life," he said. "It is not just about baseball anymore. In my mind I'm setting myself up for August. I'm definitely not saying 2007 is a wash but we'll see. Six months is my goal."
