Rossi sets fastest time in Malaysia Moto GP test

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Five-times champion Valentino Rossi has left his rivals in the dust as he clocked the fastest time on the final day of the first MotoGP tests for 2007 in Malaysia. The only rider to go below the 2min 01sec mark throughout the three-day tests, Rossi set a lap time of 2min 00.936sec and said this week's trials had provided a platform for his Yamaha Factory Racing Team to reclaim the world crown.
"I am very happy with the new bike," he said of his prototype 800cc Yamaha machine Wednesday. "We now have found a good level to continue working on the bike," he said Wednesday, adding that there were still areas like power delivery and electronics that needed to be improved.
