Spoof 'Epic Movie' tops US, Canada box–office

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — The spoof film "Epic Movie" topped the North American box-office this weekend, beating blood-soaked action caper "Smokin Aces" into second place, final figures showed.
The slapstick "Epic Movie," which pokes fun at a series of recent blockbusters including "Borat" and "Superman Returns," raked in 18.6 million dollars, figures from box-office tracker Media By Numbers showed.
"Smokin Aces," which stars Ben Affleck and Ray Liotta hunting for a witness who has testified against organized crime, was second with 14.6 million.
The Ben Stiller comedy "Night at the Museum" continued to perform well, six weeks after going on release, bringing in 9.6 million dollars. So far the movie has earned a bumper 216.8 million.
