ROME (AFP) — Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Luca Pancalli has refused to put a time limit on the suspension he enforced of all championships following the death of a police officer.

Filippo Raciti was killed on Friday when violence flared during and after the Serie A match between bitter Sicilian rivals Catania and Palermo.

The 38-year-old officer died after a home-made bomb was thrown into his car while scores of people were injured as fans fought running battles with police for several hours.

Raciti's death comes six days after the director of the Calabria-based amateur team died from a brain haemorrhage after being kicked in the face by a fan.
