SwissRe sells London 'gherkin' for 600 million pounds

ZURICH (AFP) — The reinsurer SwissRe has said it is selling its London office block, known to millions of Londoners as the "gherkin," to a German real estate firm for 600 million pounds.
The distinctively shaped tower block at 30 St Mary Axe in the City is being sold to an affiliate of IVG Immobilien, Swiss Re said in a statement. The transaction is due to be completed this month.
