LONDON (AFP) — American boxing great Floyd Mayweather has dismissed unbeaten English fighter Ricky Hatton as a "fat man" with a beer gut.

Hatton, who last month regained the International Boxing Federation light welterweight title with a 12-round unanimous decision over Colombia's Juan Urango, is desperate for a fight with Mayweather.

The American, who was expected to quit after facing Oscar de la Hoya in May, hinted that he could delay his retirement to fight Hatton in England.

"Ricky Hatton ain't nothing but a fat man. I'm going to punch him in his beer belly," Mayweather told BBC Sport.
