Golf: Furyk, Mickelson share Pebble Beach lead

PEBBLE BEACH, California (AFP) — Jim Furyk has fired a bogey-free seven-under par 65 at Poppy Hills to match fellow American Phil Mickelson for the lead after two rounds of the US PGA Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Reigning Masters champion Mickelson, who fired a 67 at Pebble Beach, matched Furyk on 12-under par 132 to stand three strokes ahead of their nearest rivals after 36 holes in the 5.5 million-dollar event being played upon three courses.

Spyglass Hill, considered the hardest of the trio, awaits both co-leaders on Saturday, with the cut not coming until after 54 holes at an event known for hijinks by celebrities playing alongside tour stalwarts.
