Injured Wie may miss first LPGA major: report

HONOLULU, United States (AFP) — Teen golf prodigy Michelle Wie hurt her left wrist after a fall while running this week and will not play golf for four to six weeks, jeopardizing her chances of playing in the first LPGA major.
The Honolulu Star-Bulletin reported Saturday that the 17-year-old standout is wearing a hard cast.
Wie had been planning to skip LPGA events in Hawaii the next two weeks but the injury makes it questionable if she can recover top form in time for the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the first women's golf major that begins March 29.
Last year, Wie fell one stroke short of reaching a playoff for the title, missing a 10-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole.
