Lyon well armed for Roma clash: Houllier

ROME (AFP) — Gerard Houllier reckons the European experience accumulated by Lyon in recent seasons will serve them well against AS Roma in Wednesday's Champions League last 16 first leg tie.

This is the fourth year in succession Lyon have made it this far in Europe's top club competition and they approach the game in Rome in optimistic mood after back-to-back wins in the league.

Those defeats of Lorient and Lille have steadied the nerves at the Stade Gerland after an uncharacteristic dip in form before and after the winter recess.

Houllier, who is aiming to guide Lyon past the quarter-final stages for the first time in the club's history, said: "We have to hope that we'll make use of the experience we've acquired in the past few campaigns.
