Leipheimer keeps yellow jersey at Tour of California

SACRAMENTO, United States (AFP) — US cyclist Levi Leipheimer of Discovery Channel retained the yellow jersey here Tuesday after stage two of the Tour of California cycling race.
Argentina's JJ Haedo of Team CSC won the second stage, a 186.4km journey through wine country that ended in a dash before the state capitol building.
Italian Luca Paolini of Liquigas finished second with Norway's Thor Hushovd of Credit Agricole placing third.
Leipheimer crashed on the streets of his hometown Monday near the end of the first stage in Santa Rosa but race officials made the controversial decision to give all peloton riders the same time despite a huge crash.
That move allowed prologue winner Leipheimer to keep Monday's overall lead.
