Ailing Funk regains lead in Mexico tournament

CANCUN, Mexico (AFP) — American Fred Funk fired a six-under-par 64 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the 3.5 million dollar US PGA Mayakoba Classic.
The 50-year-old Funk is trying to join Craig Stadler as the only players to win a PGA Tour event after triumphing on the Champions Tour.
Funk cruised to an 11-stroke victory at the Turtle Bay Championship in January for his first title on the senior circuit.
Stadler won the BC Open a week after capturing the Ford Senior Players Championship in 2003.
But Funk will have to overcome a sore back. After opening the tournament with a sizzling eight-under 62, Funk carded a 69 in the second round.
On Saturday, Funk winced and grabbed his back after his first shot of the day....
