Nesta eyeing AC Milan comeback

ROME (AFP) — AC Milan received a welcome boost on Tuesday when injury-plagued Italy international Alessandro Nesta said he expected to return to action in three weeks.

The 30-year-old central defender, who suffered a groin strain in the third group stage match at last year's World Cup and played no further part in the Azzurri's eventual triumph, has spent the last two months in the United States on a rehabilitation programme after having surgery on an injured shoulder.

"The shoulder has fully healed, and I hope to be back in three weeks' time," Nesta told the Gazzetta Dello Sport's website.

"I've started to train, but I lack a bit of speed. It will be up to the coach to decide when to play me."
