Skiing: Schild crowned again, and boosts overall World Cup bid

TARVISIO, Italy (AFP) — Austrian Marlies Schild continued her superb season when she secured the women's super-combined World Cup crown and boosted her bid for the prestigious overall crown.
Compatriot Nicole Hosp claimed victory in Friday's race ahead of American Julia Mancuso and Schild after Sweden's Anja Paerson had failed to secure a podium place having won the first, downhill section of the event.
The 25-year-old Swede finished fourth after being outclassed in the deciding slalom.
Paerson was the star of the recent world ski championships, where she won three world titles while Schild failed to fire in her favoured technical events.
Schild, however, will end the season far from empty-handed.
She won the slalom World Cup crown last week after claiming her sixth victory of the season in the technical discipline.
