Greece's Thanou makes winning return at Europe indoors

BIRMNINGHAM, England (AFP) — Disgraced Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou made a winning return to big time athletics with a victory in her women's 60m heat at the European Athletics Indoor Championships here Saturday.
Thanou, who was barracked by some sections of the crowd at the National Indoor Arena when the competitors were introduced, clocked 7.26secs to qualify automatically for the semi-finals later on Saturday.
