Heat is on as star opts to Wade for surgery

MIAMI (AFP) — Dwyane Wade will attempt to return to the Miami Heat for the National Basketball Association playoffs, announcing he will delay surgery on his dislocated left shoulder.

The superstar guard for the defending league champions underwent extensive tests and consulted two doctors before deciding to postpone surgery that would ensure an early end to his season.

"My decision is for the next two to three weeks to rehab, with the possibility of coming back, but with no guarantee," Wade said. "(I want) to see if I have the confidence in my shoulder to play at a high level."
