Five footballers in the dock over Champions League brawl

MADRID (AFP) — Five players involved in the mass brawl that erupted after the Champions League tie between Valencia and Inter Milan face charges of aggravated unsporting behaviour, UEFA announced on Wednesday.

The quintet - Valencia duo Carlos Marchena and David Navarro and Inter's Nicolas Burdisso, Ivan Cordoba and Maicon - will have their cases heard at a UEFA disciplinary hearing on March 14.

European football's governing body had originally planned to investigate the unruly events at the Mestalla stadium on March 22.

Fighting broke out between players and team officials after the last 16 second leg game which ended goalless with Valencia going through on the away goals rule.
