Roddick fit to play for US against Spain in Davis Cup tie

WINSTON-SALEM, United States (AFP) — Andy Roddick, forced out of an ATP quarter-final last week by a hamstring injury, is fit and ready for a Davis Cup quarter-final against Spain starting here on Friday.

Roddick, who retired from a match at Miami against Britain's Andy Murray after feeling pain in his backside, will join James Blake and US twins Bob and Mike Bryan for the Americans in the hardcourt home tie.

Roddick will play in the second singles match on Friday's opening day of competition against Fernando Verdasco. Blake leads off for the US squad against Spanish number one Tommy Robredo in Friday's first match.
