Olmert refuses to quit over Lebanon war probe: aide

JERUSALEM (AFP) — Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has no intention of resigning over the expected harsh criticism of his leadership during last year's inconclusive Lebanon war, an aide told AFP on Sunday.

"The prime minister has no intention of resigning, he will remain at the head of the government," the aide said on condition of anonymity one day before publication of an interim report on the war's failures by a government inquiry.

The 61-year-old Olmert, weakened by public criticism of the war and a string of corruption scandals implicating him and senior members of his government, is bracing himself for Monday's report amid opposition calls that he resign.
