Atos Origin calls a halt to takeover talks

PARIS (AFP) — French computer services consultants Atos Origin said on Monday it had called a halt to takeover talks with prospective buyers because it had not received any firm offers.
"The supervisory board and management have unanimously agreed that it is in the interest of all concerned parties for the group to carry on and accelerate its current strategy," the company said in a statement.
It said had received no firm offers within a period specified by the group and had therefore "put an end to the talks."
Company chairman Bernard Bourigeaud also said in a conference call: "We have taken a very clear decision to stop" the discussions.
The news appeared to discourage investors. Shares in Atos Origin were down 12.06 percent in late-morning trade...
