Gerrard wants contract sorting

LIVERPOOL, England (AFP) — Steven Gerrard has told Liverpool that he wants to give Rafa Benitez's side a huge lift before next week's Champions League final by commiting his long term future to the Anfield club.
The inspirational captain and England midfielder still has two years to run on his present deal but is keen to pledge himself until 2012.
And Gerrard, 26, is keen to sort out his future during the club's training camp in Spain this week ahead of the May 23 showdown with AC Milan in Athens.
Benitez does not want his players distracted by contract talks ahead of such a huge game, but the morale benefits of getting Gerrard to sign a new deal as they seek a sixth European Cup may be too great to miss.
