Anglos struggling with Latin test at Louis Vuitton

VALENCIA, Spain (AFP) — Thursday was a rest day at the Louis Vuitton Cup, and the breather came as welcome respite for anglo semi-finalists struggling with their respective Latin tests.

Recent years have seen a levelling up in the event, whose eventual champion will go forward to take on Swiss defenders Alinghi for the America's Cup, the world's oldest international sporting event.

That much was evident in a round robin phase which saw debutants Shosholoza of South Africa rack up nine wins and China Team beat US giants BMW Oracle Racing, a result that ultimately helped cost the Americans top spot and a chance to pick their semi-final rivals.

Had they been able to do so, Larry Ellison's syndicate would likely have plumped for Spanish contender Desafio...
