James Blunt's 'beautiful' piano up for grabs

LONDON (AFP) — An upright piano on which British singer James Blunt composed his hit songs "You're Beautiful" -- a chart topper in 25 countries -- and "Goodbye my Lover" will be auctioned in July, Bonhams said Thursday.

The British auctioneers said the upright Chappell piano was expected to fetch between 1,000 and 1,500 pounds (1,460 to 2,191 euros) when it goes up for sale on July 16.

The piano was in a three-room apartment Blunt shared with his sister in Fulham, west of London, which he has now sold, Bonhams said.

The Harrow-eduacted Blunt, who was born into a military family, is a former army officer. In March, he became the first British artist to reach the number one slot in the US Billboard chart in nine years.
