Bogey-free Lee grabs two-stroke LPGA lead

CLIFTON, United States (AFP) — South Korean Sarah Lee fired a bogey-free six-under par 66 here Thursday to seize a two-stroke lead after the opening round of the 1.4 million-dollar LPGA Sybase Classic.

Lee opened and closed the front nine with birdies, sandwiched back-to-back birdies at the fourth and fifth holes, missed a 12-foot eagle putt at the par-5 11th and sank a nine-foot birdie at the 18th to complete a stellar start.

"I never played this golf course before, so I just wanted to focus on what I'm doing and hitting it on the fairway, hitting on the green," Lee said.

Defending champion Lorena Ochoa, the world number one and LPGA season money leader from Mexico, shared second on 68 with American Brittany Lincicome and Koreans Hye-Jung Choi, Se Ri Pak...
