Stone raises seven million dlrs for AIDS research

MOUGINS, France (AFP) — Screen siren Sharon Stone raised a record seven million dollars for AIDS research at a glittering star-studded soiree late Wednesday on the sidelines of the Cannes film festival.
Film stars Matt Damon, Maggie Cheung, Michelle Yeoh and Catherine Deneuve, singers Kylie Minogue and Carla Bruni, models Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer and Elle MacPherson were among the more than 700 guests.
US producer Harvey Weinstein, designers Jean-Paul Gaultier and Roberto Cavalli, and the wealthy divorcee Ivana Trump also attended.
Stone played auctioneer at the fourth annual party on the French Riviera for amfAR, organised by cinema legend Elizabeth Taylor, who was unable to attend due to health problems. Last year's fete brought in four million...
