Praise for Thailand's against-the-odds deaf golfer

KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) — Asian stars piled praise on South Korea's Lee Sung after he wrote a new chapter in his amazing golf career.

Lee, who was born deaf, claimed his maiden Asian Tour win with an emphatic wire-to-wire performance at the Bangkok Airways Open.

The 27-year-old, who communicates via his brother -- his caddy this weekend -- has often been hailed an inspiration, and his popular victory was greeted enthusiastically.

"It is truly inspiring to see Lee winning against the odds," said Asian Tour executive chairman Kyi Hla Han.

""Lee's dedication and commitment are wonderful traits that many aspiring golfers can learn and emulate. I would like to salute Lee for his winning breakthrough on the Asian Tour," he added.
