BANGKOK (AFP) — World Boxing Council flyweight champion Pongsaklek Wonjongkam of Thailand has been offered 250,000 dollars to fight Australian Vic Darchinyan in the United States, local media said Wednesday.
The Bangkok Post reported that Pongsaklek's promoters had been offered the hefty sum for a unification bout with the unbeaten Armenian-born International Boxing Federation flyweight champion Darchinyan.
Promoter Virat Vachiraratanawongse told the English-language newspaper that they had not yet decided whether to accept the offer.
"I will not make a decision yet because we already have three challengers on the waiting list until the end of the year," he said.
Pongsaklek is currently preparing to fight Daisuke Naito of Japan.
