Bourdais on pole in bid for fourth straight Champ Car win

CLEVELAND, United States (AFP) — France's Sebastien Bourdais will go for his fourth straight Champ Car race win from pole position on Sunday after topping the times in qualifying for the Grand Prix of Cleveland.

Bourdais lapped the 2.106-mile road course at Burke Lakefront Airport in 56.363 seconds, clocking 134.514 miles per hour.

The three-time defending series champion guaranteed himself a front-row starting position by winning the provisional pole on Friday with a speed of 56.961.

Bourdais claimed his third pole of the season and the 28th of his career, passing Al Unser for sole possession of sixth place on the series' all-time list.

The 28-year-old has won each of the last three races - including two from the pole.
