Corporate deal frenzy still going strong: study
0 Comments | AFP, June, 2007
NEW YORK (AFP) — The corporate merger frenzy of 2007 is still going strong, with more deals likely on the horizon, a research report said Wednesday.
PricewaterhouseCoopers' Transaction Services group said the merger and acquisition (MA) mania, helped by a wave of private equity deals, does not seem to be running out of steam.
"We are moving deeper into an accelerated MA rally, with larger transactions from bigger corporate buyers on the horizon," said Bob Filek, a partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Data from Thomson Financial showed deals involving US targets totaled 845 billion dollars during the first five months of 2007, 53 percent of the total for 2006, and 10 percent more than deal value in the entire first half of 2006, the report noted.
