OECD 'to go beyond GDP' to measure well-being

PARIS (AFP) — The OECD said Monday that it would help develop and publish a survey of social progress aimed at improving policy making and the well-being of people around the world.
"The OECD is to work with other international organisations and partners to develop a new approach to measuring how societies are changing," a statement said.
The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development statement followed the group's second global forum on statistics, knowledge and policy, held over the weekend in Istanbul.
The Paris-based organisation said it would work with the European Commission, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the United Nations, the UN Development Programme and the World Bank on new surveys.
