Small plane crashes into homes in Florida, at least five dead

MIAMI (AFP) — A small plane crashed into two homes Tuesday killing five people, injuring three others and causing two houses to burn down near Orlando, Florida's international airport, officials said.

"We have five confirmed victims on the debris site and we are in the process of stabilizing the site and continuing our search and rescue," local fire chief Gerard Ransom said at a news conference, adding there were "three injured and five confirmed fatalities."

A four-year-old was reported missing after the crash, but officials did not immediately say whether he was among the fatalities.

Officials said the pilot and the other person aboard the Cessna 310 twin-engine plane were among those killed in the crash.
