Czech star Nedved to continue with Juve for another year

ROME (AFP) — Juventus's Czech midfield star Pavel Nedved will stay with the Turin club for the forthcoming season after agreeing to a one-year contract extension, Juve CEO Jean-Claude Blanc confirmed on Wednesday.

"Last night we reached an agreement that suits Pavel and the club," Blanc told the Juventus website.

Nedved, who was out of contract and had been considering retirement, rejected a deal that would have kept him at the club for another two seasons and instead agreed a one-year extension that will reportedly net him three million euros.

Earlier Nedved, who helped Juve gain promotion back to Serie A last season, told Czech news agency CTK of his decision to stay in Turin.
