WASHINGTON (AFP) — The United States tops the list of countries viewed by the global public as both their nation's greatest threat and their greatest ally, according to a major survey released Tuesday.
The Pew Research Center said its annual "Global Attitudes" report, a survey of 47 countries, also found that nuclear-aspirant Iran was viewed as the main potential threat in the United States, Israel, and much of Europe.
Overall in the survey of more than 45,000 people, the United States was cited by most respondents in 19 countries as their country's leading ally. In 17 countries, the United States was described as their top threat.
