Open champ Harrington endures disappointing day at Bridgestone

AKRON, United States (AFP) — British Open champion Padraig Harrington's day at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational on Thursday started with a big disappointment and didn't get much better.
The Irishman seized his first major title at Carnoustie less than two weeks ago, but a long dreamed-of moment was wrecked when his introduction on the first tee here included no mention of his Open triumph.
"I was really, really looking forward to the guy announcing 'The Open champion' and he didn't do it," Harrington said. "They used to have a guy here who went into a lot of theatrics announcing the name and they sacked him because he did too much.
"I wish he was there today. (The new guy) just said 'Padraig Harrington, Ireland'. I was gutted. I was looking forward to it the last 24 hours."
Rest assured, however, Harrington won't have to wait long ...
