PARIS (AFP) — Lens goalkeeper Charles Itandje revealed Thursday he has agreed a move to English Premiership side Liverpool where he will be second choice keeper to Spaniard Jose Reina.

"I'm joining a great club, a Champions League finalist last year and previous winners, it's great," Itandje told Lens website.

The 24-year-old spent the past six seasons at Lens but had to fight for his place last season with Croatian Vedran Runje.

"I've met great people (at Lens), an extraordinary public and rubbed shoulders with great players, frankly I'm leaving with a lot of emotion," added Itandje, who had been tipped to fill in for injured Gregory Coupet at Lyon.

Lens finished fourth last season.
