LOS ANGELES (AFP) — Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson are to star in an adaptation of "Marley and Me," writer John Grogan's best-selling memoir about a mischievous labrador retriever, it was reported Monday.

"Friends" and "Rumor Has It" star Aniston has signed to star alongside funnyman Wilson ("Wedding Crashers," "You, Me and Dupree") for a film that will begin production in 2008, Daily Variety reported.

Grogan's autobiographical 2005 book told the story of life with the labrador following his adoption to help the journalist and his wife prepare for parenthood.

The dog then proceeds to wreak havoc, getting kicked out of obedience school, destroying furniture and causing general chaos while becoming a beloved member of Grogan's family.
