Everton fans back stadium move

EVERTON, England (AFP) — Everton's plans to move from Goodison Park to a new ground outside Liverpool received strong support from their fans on Friday.
Everton staged a ballot of around 36,000 fans and the vote revealed that 59.27 percent of supporters favoured a move with 40.73 percent against, with 11,000 fans declining to take part.
If more than 50 percent of voters had rejected the scheme to build a 50,000-seater stadium in Kirkby Everton would have had to start searching for a new site.
Everton have been looking for a new home since the Kings Dock plans collapsed three years ago.
Goodison Park is considered too old and impractical to expand, but the Keep Everton In Our City (KEIOC) campaign and Liverpool Council have fought strongly for Everton...
