Mideast conference should revive all peace tracks: GCC

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia (AFP) — Pro-Western Gulf Arab states on Saturday reiterated their backing for a planned US-sponsored Middle East peace conference, but insisted it should revive the peace process on all tracks.

Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers who met in the Saudi Red Sea city of Jeddah "support the convening of the international conference recently called by US President George W. Bush" for later this year, they said in a statement.

The conference should be attended by "all parties concerned with the peace process," with the purpose of "launching direct negotiations on all tracks and building on what has been achieved," the statement said.

In order to have credibility, the proposed conference should not exclude anyone, the six ministers said...
