Mother Teresa's death marked in Balkan homeland

TIRANA (AFP) — Albania and Macedonia paid tribute to Mother Teresa on Wednesday, the 10th anniversary of the death of the nun who left her Balkan homeland to win acclaim for her charity work in India.
"Mother Teresa, an Albanian who with her spiritual force could occupy the hearts of all humanity and all citizens, is the honour of our nation," said Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Berisha was speaking during a visit to the home in the capital Tirana that Mother Teresa opened on her return to Albania in 1991.
Dozens of locals placed flowers at the front of a modest statue of the nun in front of the University of Tirana.
