DALLAS, United States (AFP) — Dallas Cowboys receiver Terry Glenn underwent right knee surgery Thursday but hopes to return before the end of the National Football League season.

Glenn, 33, had arthroscopic surgery in Columbus, Ohio, to treat an injury suffered in pre-season practice.

Glenn had considered a season-ending surgery that might have closed out his 12-year NFL career but instead chose to keep the chance of playing this season even though he risks a long-term injury.

The move came after Glenn missed the exhibition season for August surgery to remove a cyst on the back of his right kneecap.

Glenn caught 70 passes for 1047 yards and six touchdowns in last season. He has 593 receptions for 8,823 yards and 44 touchdowns in his career.
