Swedish-Finnish telecoms firm to form new infrastructure unit

STOCKHOLM (AFP) — Swedish-Finnish telecommunications operator TeliaSonera said on Monday it would form a new fully-owned telecom infrastructure subsidiary in Sweden.

It said the infrastructure company, which will launch operations in the fourth quarter, will sell its products on equal terms to TeliaSonera's wholesale customers and the company's own operations.

"TeliaSonera establishes the new infrastructure company in order to ensure that the market's requirement for transparency and full control is met. This means that all operators and our own operations are treated equally," the company said.

The company also said it would be able to run its infrastructure operations "more efficiently" through a separate company.
