Probe casts doubt on September 11 'survivor'

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A woman who has claimed to be one of 19 survivors who were at or above the point where two passenger planes hit the World Trade Center in New York on September 11, 2001, could be a fraud., The New York Times said Thursday.

The Times reported that "the pieces just don't fit" in the harrowing and moving tale that Tania Head has told of her ordeal in the twin towers.

The woman, who became president of the World Trade Center Survivors' Network, has told Internet audiences, the media and university conferences how she crawled through smoke and flame on the 78th floor of the south tower, was saved by a volunteer firefighter, and lost her fiance in the attacks.
